351 exhaust HP gains?

351 exhaust HP gains?
I'm the new owner of a 92 F-150 4x4 w/a 351 in it, I'm not sure if this is the 351M or not. This is my first V-8, I got it to tow my car.
Anyway I'm looking to put a exhaust on it keeping the cat. What type of exhaust is quiet (keeping the wife happy) and what type of HP gains should I expect? I've been thinking about shorty headers and a different pipe and muffler.
