HELP! Oil Leaks Everywhere.
I have a 1978 F150 4x4, 351m edelbrock intake, holley carb. The problem is first the rear main seal started leaking, then the oil pan gasket, then the valve cover gaskets started to blow out. I get oil out of the breather and the pcv grommet. This engine does have a few miles on it, not sure exactly just bought it in the spring. It runs Great, gets 10-12 mpg, lot's of power, sounds good, maybe a little lifter noise.
The question finally, Why am I getting so much pressure in the engine? I have never seen anything like it before. I have not done a compression test or leak down test, which may tell me a lot. But wouldn't that much blow by make it run like crap?
Any other suggestions. I don;t want to spend the time and money to replace seals and gaskets if they are going to blow right out again. I want to build a new engine for it but I don't have the $$ right now.

It's almost got to be blow by or a plugged PCV system.
Make sure the PCV hoses are not clogged. Does the PCV valve ratttle like it should? Is the PCV filter clogged?
Do a compression test. A leak down test is better but compression tester is not expensive.
Post your results and somebody will jump in if I don't get back to you.

Here's a couple of band aids. Run 50w oil, make sure the PCV system isn't clogged up. Plug off the make up air for the PCV system, it will draw a vacuum in the crank case and try to suck the oil back into the engine. Maybe even add some "Restore" engine treatment.
