4.9 to 5.0/5.8

4.9 to 5.0/5.8
I'm about to buy either the 5.0 or 5.8 to replace my 4.9. Found a pretty good deal on a 5.8 so I'm leaning that way now (I cant believe how indecisive I am on this). I've gotten good input from some of you all, Conanski and Kemicalburns in particular.
Questions; with either of these engines replacing my 4.9, will I need to change engine pedastools or just relocate the 4.9 pedstools?
Are these available aftermarket or do I have to get them from the bone yard?
Anything else needed besides engine wiring harness and computer that should come from a donor vehicle?
Running same 5 speed so I am assuming current radiator will work ok?
Thanks,
Craig

Make sure you get the correct flywheel, if you try to run the 4.9 flywheel on a 5.0 or 5.8 you'll have a vibration that will make short work of your crank bearings.
I don't know what year your truck is but since you said 4.9 instead of 300 I presume it's a fuel injected motor and a lot newer then my truck. But in my 77 F100 the small block ford bolted right to the old 300 motor mounts.

You say 5.0 or 5.8 and 4.9, 5 speeds, etc...this tells me you have a newer truck/bronco. Ford used crossflow rads. in these years, so yes, the 4.9 had both outlets on the driver side, and the 5.0 has the top one on the passenger side/lower on driver side. Again, being newer, I can't tell about the perches, but in the 70's you had to change the 300 perches out for the windsor/335 series engines. My 2 cents would be to keep tabs on/buy the whole truck(then part out or sell the rest for scrap)and the wiring and computer are all there for the taking, along with accessory brackets, exhaust, rad., etc...

Sorry I didnt give all the info. 1994 F150 2wd short bed with 4.9 and 5 speed. Going back with 5 speed and EFI either 5.0 or 5.8.
Conanski, when you say motor mounts you dont mean the frame perches do you? Will I need the perches out of donor truck or reposition exisiting perches?
I'll be going with some sort of header setup and aftermarket exhaust. So I'll be picking everyones brain about that at some point.

The 300 perches are different. Also, listen to the advice above about not going to the 5.0. You will be disappointed and will wish for the 300 to be back under the hood.
Also, since you're re-using the M5OD, be aware that Ford never offered this combination. The 351 may or may not be too much for the M5OD. It really depends on how you drive it. I think that if you dump the clutch a few times you will be back here asking "What transmission can I use with a 351?"
