Are your t-cases rough to engage and disengage? Mine goes in fine but it can be a little hard to disengage. I'm not sure if I need to beef up the shifter mechanism I made or just get used to it........Works good in 4wd, minor tweeking needed. I'm hearing a slight thumping on the RF wheel - I think it's the dirt slinger rubbing the spindle as I heard it scraping the other day when I spun the RS shaft by hand.
Here's some pics of the divorced 205 installed in my 91 F250 diesel 4x4. My truck used to be 2wd auto, now it's 4wd with a ZF 5spd. The shifter handle attaches to the two 1/4" bolts in the pivot bracket. I re-used a stock BW1356 handle - I just bent it as needed. I have two spare 205's and a 203 here for parts.
Looks good! Next time it seems like it wants to be difficult to disengage, try backing-up. Most of the time, just as the wheels start to roll rearward, it will pop out of 4x4 with little effort.
sweet.. you should sell me one if you got a extra, im in alaska ship it over i need a 2wd one, show me the pics of yoru clutch linkage? im ruinnign the external hydrolic slave..
I jsut swapped to a 4x4 ZF..i majorly lucked out...bought it for $100 off a chevy guy who was going to scrap a rusty truck w/ 351..he even took it out for me!
The gassers are pretty easy to find, it's the diesel trannys that are rare.
Thats what I plan on doing with my 90'. Except looking for info on using a coil spring front axle, and no lift.
It does bring up a question. Does anybody know what bell housing size the IH is? I know all the other diesels I've worked on are SAE sized. Just wondered about this engine. Maybe theres other tranny options out there I didn't know about.
I would recommend phasing those yokes from the trans to transfer case 90* from eachother. How they are now, in line, does not allow the u-joints to properly do their job, which could lead to breakage or premature wear on the u-joints, trans, and transfer case. Just a heads up...
It's a 7" Spicer stubshaft, $260 from Drive Products. The u-joints have enough working angles to do there job, take them out of phase and I will have vibration issues for starters. In phase is the safest thing for highway driving which I do each day.
