300 I6 and 302 computers the same?

Yes and no. They are physically the same size, they use the same connectors and the pin outs are the same. The software inside is different. It is entirely possible that the 302 computer will allow the 300 to start and run, in fact it probably will. How well it will run is anybody's guess.

The 300 with a 302 ECU runs,but thats about it. no power, lots of pinging. I think the 302 ECU places more timeing advance than a 300 ECU. But it got me home though! Also make sure you get a ECU to auto or manual tranny to match what tranny you have, the Automatic tranny ECU do not like clutching actions.

The 302 computer probably ran poorly because it was too lean. The 302 computer is setup to add fuel through 8 injectors, so it has shorter pulse width. After a few hundred miles it would probably wise up and run a lot better, but I doubt it would ever be right.

You may be right about the fuel, but both engines are MPI so two missing injectors may not affect the fuel ratio. More likely the 300 runs around 55PSI on fuel rail and 302 is about 35?PSI So that may be the problem. But in a pinch it ran enough to get home! Later I got a auto tranny ECU for the 300, mine is manual, quicky found out the programming of ECU's are diffrent for manual to automatic trannys. the automatic ECU don't like being lugged under 1200RPMs
