EGR cooler block off plate

I was reading in elite diesel about the egr cooler block off plate. How hard are these to install? For a 2004 they are only $35.00. Thats not bad for solving one of the biggest problems these trucks have. Is the install a major job or just a couple hours?

Thanks
Randy

According to Elite Diesel you might have to take off the turbo. How hard is that?

for your basic guy is not a mechanic i doubt it's only an hour job.
be prepared to spend the majority of the afternoon/evening on it. you will have to remove a bunch of stuff just to get to it, so NO, it's not only a couple bolts.

Yes, I started looking at doing this once and getting to the inlet/clamp is not straightforward - at least not from the top of the engine. I believe some have removed the wheel well liners to access it and have had success. If someone had some nice instructions with pictures that would be ideal. I just haven't had the time to dig into it as of late.

Just to prepare you for what you get for $35, it's a small (maybe 2") metal disc, kinda looks like a large slug from a metal electrical box. Had I known this I would have made my own. I haven't had time to install it yet, souds like I'll need to put aside a few hours for the job.
