Has anyone had a problem with the brakets that connect the split axle to the crossmember? I have a rough country 4" lift kit, and noticed I had a broken bolt when I 1st got the truck, replaced it with a grade 8 bolt, but I noticed yesterday when I put my new CPS in the the braket now has a crack running along the bend of it. Has anyone else had any problems with the IFS setup??
yes i have heard of those failing. other than taking it off and beefing it up not sure there is much to do about it other than putting a dana 60 under it.
weld, it now before it gets worse, the stock ones will do it, i cant say i've ever seen a lift kit crack before but i have had stock brackets break completley off before
If you decide to weld it be sure to drill a hole at the end(s) of the crack or it will just continue to crack. That is hi strength steel, High carbon content, heli-acr will hold best but mig welding will work. My 2 cents.
Yea, I figured I'd just mig weld it, if anything I was thinking of just getting a new bracket or fabing up my own. Doesn't look like a lot of work to replicate.
my favorite helicopter of all time, i wouldnt be makeing my own drop bracket, thats some high grade steel you'd be playing with and it takes a ton of pressure, your safest bet is weld the crack and and go with it,
yeah i looked for a while now since my 50 is in pieces but the best i could find was a rusted pos for 1200 bucks, i laughed at the guy, i'm fixing the d-50 and running with it, they make a ton of aftermarket stuff now for them, over 200k of my abuse is an A in my book
