On my truck, how can a guy tell if there is a leveling kit installed? Im pretty sure there isnt, but before I go out shopping for one, I would like to know for sure.
Also is there anyway to tell if there has been work done to the transmission? Mine is an auto, and I want to start pricing out some upgrades but there again before I start, I would like to see if there is some in there allreaddy.
No not necessarely. A leveling kit can also be done with spring hangers also. Basically by changing the spring hangers(where the Ft springs attach at either end) to longer hangers you can obtain you ride hieght leveling kit and not change your factory ride. When you do a spring leveling kit, it changes your ride hieght along with making the ride alittle stiffer. The stock springs do suffer form fatiuge over time do to the weight of the 7.3 diesel motors, so its not a bad idea to do a spring lift because it does hlep with the handling characteristics of the truck. You can do a (add-a-leaf )which you just add a supporting leaf underneath your stock spring pack, about $130.00. Or by a new leveling spring pack kit about $200-$300. If you choose, you can still use your stock shocks with any one of these options. But your truck will handle and drive much better with knew shocks to support the lift. They are all offered thru various companies on e-bay.. Hope this helps yah out. Take care and have fun.. Country
OK here is what I know cause I have been searching for one.
Procomp-new springs and 4 shocks try this guy he quoted me a price of $550.00 shipped southcariboooffroad@shaw.ca
Trail master has one with 4 shocks and spring hangers.
I would try that new place in Langley and see what they have. Also Sport Trucks Unlimited in that same area I think. Enterprise Way, Surrey.
They should be able to give you some good info.
I Had rough Country leveling kit, new pack with 5 leaf progressive springs. In 3 months the shocks were junk, and over the course of 16-18 months, the springs were verty phagged. The passenger side was down about an inch, and the driver's side was down 2 1/4". So i aleady had a new set of Bilsteins, so on ebay i found a new set of Dick Cepek springs, just the spring. $200 plus $50 shipping and my truck sits back up level now and not leaning to one side.
The guy selling the procomp is out of 108 mile. The company name is South Cariboo Offroad. He had a listing on Craigslist but I know nothing about him. Newer company just recently starting out in the last year or so.
I deal with Lordco here cause that's all there is. I buy quite a bit of stuff there so they cut me a pretty good deal. Most times cheaper than I can get it elsewhere.
I think the new store in Langley is National Offroad.
