94 Explorer Problems

I Have A 94 Explorer 4.0 I Am Having Trouble With The Temp Gauge It Is Reading High Sometimes As I Drive But It Is Not Overheating When It Does This Any Ideas What It Is.i Replaced The Coolant Temp Sender And Coolant Switch.i Am Also Having Trouble With The 4wd It Will Work In High But Will Not Work In Low

if your 4wd work in high but not low your transfer case might be going or it could be a sensor but check the wireing to the sensor could be lose also

I suggest replacing the thermostat. It may be getting hot enough for the gauge to go up, and the tstat finally opens and it will then go down. If the tstat sticks shut it will cost you some major $$ if it gets too hot.

Another thing to check is the condition of your cooling system. I had a problem recently where the rubber tranny cooler lines were leaking, and the result was a layer of ATF/bug/leaves/road grime which basically made a thick tar-like coating on the front of the A/C compressor. Needless to say, this dramatically affected the air flow through the A/C compressor and radiator. I replaced the rubber lines, and thoroughly cleaned the A/C compressor. Truck seems to run cooler now.

Also check your fan clutch.

your shift motor on the T/C is not working, there is a sticky on this problem

On the cooling problem, it couldn't hurt to flush and change the coolant, and have the flow checked in the radiator, especially if it's old and the coolant hasn't been changed often enough.

I Replaced The Coolant 2 Months Ago.the Rad Is Old So We Will Go From There.i Am Going To Replace The T Stat Hopefully This Weekend And Check The Transfer Case Motor If The Weather Gets Warmer

Agreed, start with the cheap/free stuff.

Inspect/clean a/c compressor, radiator, etc. (free)

Inspect clutch fan (free)

Replace t-stat (very cheap)

Get a flow test done on the radiator (cheaper than replacing outright)
