Asking for experiences with buying a replacement box for a 53 Ford pickup. I have done some research and there is quite a range in pricing and of course everyone claims that they have the best. I am after a quality product, I do not mind paying a higher price for a higher quality part. I am looking for that balance of quality and price.
Has anyone had their box delivered to a show for pickup to save shipping coss?
Be Bops offers a box that looks attractive. I have seen Be Bops at shows I attend so that's where the thought of having them bring it with them to a show comes from.
I live in Wisconsin so shipping is a concern if I could not pick it up.

Reason: add
I have not purchased a new bed but have heard that some require quite a bit of finish work where they are spot welded together while others don't. Might be something to ask about when purchasing.
I got mine from ProsPick. It came primed and required no finish work other than normal sanding for paint. I ordered it at a fall show to get free shipping and had them hold up shipping until the following spring since I cannot work on my truck in the winter. The quality is excellent and it included all the bed supports, a hidden latch mechanism, and the tailgate. It requires no welding to assemble, came with good assembly instructions, and I am very happy with it.

Tomoto:
Where is hot rods classic truck parts located, do you have a phone number? I did a google search and could not find them.
Bruce Horkey Wood and Parts in Minnesota sells repo beds and wood parts for classic pickups. Been in business a long time and have seen his merchandise at the supernationals. Good quality and close to you.
Do a search for "horkeywoodandparts". Should come up. Good luck
Hot Rod's beds are fine pieces. I saw them in Canfield and their bed sides looked good. Hot Rod's gets around to several swap meets and car shows so you might still be able to get one delivered to you at a show if they come up near you. I'm guessing the next show in your area will be a few months away though????
We sell DAN Carpenter beds because they're made well and they have options to make them a little unique. Plus, they've been doing it awhile. Please check us out if you would like. We have good quality and reasonable prices. Like Hot Rod's, we are also in Ohio - Akron (South of Cleveland)
One note on shipping a bed via truck freight. If you can pick the bed up at the trucking terminal (if there is one near you), it can usually save you around $60 when we ship beds. Sometimes if you have a business to ship to with an easy unload area, it can save you some money too. The trucking companies tack on extra money to deliver to a residence because it's sometimes out of the way to deliver to a residence.
