I have a remote starter/alarm system I want to install in my 99 Ranger XLT.
Is there schematics that I can get to make sure I am wiring the harness properly and what I need to do to my existing passive alarm system? Any help would be appreciated.
I am about to embark on this mission too... I purchased a bulldog system, with harness, and had to buy a pats bypass module. Ill be keeping an eye on your thread
I wish you both the best of luck. I just helped a friend install a similar kit on a cavalier. It was an alarm and auto start that could lock the doors. It was about the most involved automotive projects I have ever been a part of. If you are not supremely confident of your wiring abilities I would think twice about doing this yourself. I did this with some friends from back in high school (1, electrical engineer,2 fleet mechanics, and myself who has been restoring cars and motorcycles forever). We even had a few moments that had us scratching our heads. Allow for plenty of time to get this done. It took us about 10 hours although we took plenty of breaks for goofing around because we dont see each other much anymore. I am not one to go to professionals to get automotive work done, but this one might be more headache than it's worth to pay someone else to do it. It won't be as bad if its just the auto start though, but I would still recomend that you have a good history with electronics. It's definately not a beginner project. Oh and dont forget sealing connectors or heat shrink, corrosion can cause so many headaches down the road. Again, good luck and let us know how it went.
