Ignition switch search is on.......
I'd like to retain the push button starter switch on the left of the dash........So, does anyone have a line on a keyed switch that has OFF/ACC/ON but NO momentary start? I'd like to wire it so the push button won't activate without the key on.
I've heard some industrial equipment/tractors have that but I can't be certain.

The universal switchs on the market that I looked at had a flat on each side for the dash hole to keep the switch from turning in the hole, but of course the hole was too big so I had to improvise.
Good luck. I think you should save your time and just get a universal switch at the parts store for about $15.

I just found your ignition switch. Too late for me but go to:
www.waytekwire.com
It's just what the Dr. ordered! Page 47 of their PDF catalogue. Three position: acc/off/on
I can't believe all the cool auto wiring stuff this place has!

Believe it or not both AutoZone and NAPA have a switch that works with a little massaging to fit the stock hole (assuming the '53 is like the '52?) -- it appears to be very similar to the one in the catalog above, but with posts instead of screw (better for putting multiple wires on). I can't confirm the number but it appears to be Wells #LS464. It is exactly as you say, Acc/Off/Run. I'm using one and it's fine, although I am not clear whether spare keys can be made up. It's only $13 too. They had the same one at NAPA on the rack of electrical gear on the floor. Has a "double-D" profile that will squeeze thru the stock opening and stay put with a little filing on the case of the switch.
Talk to you soon!
