Speedometer cable

Speedometer cable
So I buy a new replacement speedometer cable and to my surprise does not work. It's seems that somewhere along the line someone has put an adapter of sorts on the transmission (ford-o-matic) so the replacement did not work. It should pop in then bolt down with a hold down bracket, but whats on there is a cable with a female end on both sides.
No problem I'll just buy a "speedometer cable repair kit" after all how much can that be? Well local parts store don't carry one, however Napa has an "end" for a cable for eight bucks or so and there willing to sell me a crimper for $100.00 +. Needless to say I past on that deal. I have found a replacement cable and tool for.... are you ready $8.39 that's right $8.39 the cable comes long you just cut to length crimp on end and you have it. Now for you guys that know about this I think it needs to be shared, for those of you like me, well we now know we can replace the inner cable as long as the sheeth is good, I'll let you guys know how it works when I receive it and put it on. There's probably other ways and other replacements that can be had but I don't know of any I'm learning as I go.
You learn something new every day.
Staying low for now
