What trans is this?
I have been asking around on some mustang forums about a trans that I have and was hoping you guys might help. It's a manual tranny that was bolted up to a 351 ( mid 70's I think ) On the ID tag it says: RAT H3 ( 3 speed?? ) The numbers on the tail housing say : RF-C5TR 7A040-B W 2N . What I really want to know is if I were to rebuild the transmission could it handle 500 HP?

Is it a 3 speed all synchro manual trans?
Top loaded iron case, side mounted external shifter?
If so, it's a "303" Ford. 500 HP? Get a 4 speed toploader or one of the late model 5 or 6 speeds.
