1997 V6 3.0 Ranger - Problems with headlights in Europe
Hi,
I just recently imported the above vehicle to Europe and now the problem to clear customs and to be able to get the licence is that they require european standard headlights, does anyone have any idea where I could find those or maybe some other vehicle has the euro headlights that would fir the Ranger?
Please help!
Mislav
Try these two websites for euro head light conversions. www.truckperformance.com and www.stylingconcepts.com I am pretty sure they have them for your Ranger because I know that truckperformance.com has them for my 98. Hope this helps.
The European standards require different brightness levels than US. Have you tried removing a bulb and going to a Parts Store over there to see if they have the bulb like yours that relates to their lighting standard.
This inspired me to look at projector headlights for my 99. They look nice and add extra lighting. I'm sold. I've ordered a pair. I will have to post some pictures soon.
Thanks for the help everyone, tomorrow is the last try with the original headlights, if it fails I guess it's eBay.
This whole mess is so stupid to begin with, I mean a human eye cannot see the difference between those lights and any other car on the european street.
True ECE lights produce a different light pattern and have less glare than USDOT approved lights. I beleive Ford imported the Ranger to Europe (I swear I saw a few in Germany or Austria on a recent trip) so you may be able to get the proper housings from a dealer over there. I'd go that route before buying something from eBay that might claim to be "European" but doesn't have the regulatory stamp on the lens. Bulbs should be no more expensive than what your current 9004 bulbs cost over here.
if you need brighter lights you can always swtich to a higher wattage bulb. i run H4 Projector Headlights on my 87 ranger with a 110 high/ 90 low watt bulb and it turns night into day. But i agree with what was said earlier there is nothing like ebay for cheep aftermarket parts you usally save abou t 30% good luck
