New 05 Sport Trac Owner
Hi. I am a new owner of an 05 Explorer ST XLT 2WD. We took it on our first mini trip this weekend and we got about 16MPG with mostly highway driving. Is this normal, or should I be getting better with an 05? I'm not complaining about the mileage, I just want to know what to expect. So far, I am a happy owner. Thanks in advance,

In my time of having my '04 premium 2wd.I noticed about the same as you.the only mod I have added is drop in K&N and run Castrol 5W30.I now have 12K miles on it.I do not think it was all K&N,However a combination of both Tthe filter and time to break in.I am averaging15-17 city 23 is the most I am getting hwy.

I have an '01 4x4 no mods 78K miles and on the highway (70-75 mph) I will see around 20 mpg, driving back and forth to work which is mixed driving I usually get around 17 mpg. After your engine is broke in you should see at least a 5% increase in FE.
