Has anyone tried chipping a v6 sohc explorer 1999 for better fuel consumption and power , I am very interested in the results as Gas in NZ is now $1.43 a litre.!!!! am am getting around 20 per gallon.

As for your question, someone will be around shortly to answer, but in my experience chips do porvide better fuel economy.
I chiped my truck and I love it. You can get 3 settings,a modified 87 octane 91 and 93. You will see a big change in the shifting and the hardness of the shift. Which help fuel use. If you go to (Performance, Engines and Troubleshooting) and then go to (Computer Chips and Tuners) leave a post for Ken he the man on the chips and tuners.
For your information ktmracing, assuming NZed follows a similar octane rating (RON) to Australia.
"Thier" 87 correlates to a little below our 91.
"Thier" 91 is a little below our 95 and thier 93 is quite a bit lower than our 98.
