So, anyone experience their rear brake rotors rusting severely?
Am having 4 new Bilsteins installed at my local 4WD shop and they informed me they saw that my rear rotors are shot, but not because of normal pad-to-rotor wear. He said they've been seeing this phenomenom lately on all the late-model heavy trucks (e.g., GM/Chevy, Ford, and Dodge) where the metal on rotors is rusting severely and the rust is getting trapped between the pad & rotor and grooving the crap outta' them. I wasn't exactly planning on replacing my rear rotors at 73k. I guess this is what I get for being a lazy s.o.b. and not doing my shocks/brakes myself this time.
Anyone else heard of this? Maybe it's just the inordinate amount of salt/sand NJ uses instead of simply plowing the damn roads.
Did you verify this with your own eyes? I've not read any posts on the 'net about a problem with rust on the rotors- but maybe I've missed some. A lot of people do have a problem with warpage.

...and far moreso that I've personally seen on a rotor, although the grooves didn't seem all that deep to me. I've personally never been a huge fan of resurfacing rotors (especially given what they generally cost to replace), but I would've probably given it a shot had it been presented as an option since they were the rears.
