302 EGR Valve Supply Tube

On my 88 F150 with the 302 I keep getting an intermittent check engine light with an EGR code of 32. The light comes on because small chunks of carbon debris will come up through the supply tube to the bottom of the EGR valve and stick to the pintle or needle valve and cause it not to totally seal when the EGR valve is not in use. Are their any tricks to cleaning out the tube without having to take off the intake? Any suggestions at all?

The chevy vortec 4.3 had a big problem with this the most easy repair was the stick a peice of metal screen before the egr so stuff wouldn't get into it something like this might help you out.

That is a good idea. Thanks for the reply. I think that I am just going to clean it out the best that I can, again, and see what I can come up with to put a screen in there before the the valve. Thanks again. Any other suggestions?
