why me? i need trans help / hard parts

ok if any1 recalls i ordered a nice wide ratio heavyduty/towing/RV C6 roller bearing(in way of thrustwashers) R-servo i mean to the 9s from broader performance
i went on the word of a friend/coworker and took it to the mechanic in the next town(later to relize he is chebby peps)
well ~3 days laybor later (a month real time) @60 an hour
he tells me it still has to be adjusted...
so in stead of murder i gave him moneys and left
so it definatly was not right but made it home via the grocery
took it to work on monday at noon charging probs
fiddled about for a month (i work near by) with eletricial (started with a G3 then got a new chrome 85amp in)

--symtems for the 9 miles driven it does not shift NEAR right stalls etc
to stop and reverse direction it will not go past neutral so stut it off and put it in park or neutral -restart then back it in to the parking spot

then charging? fixed decided to give a short haul to the store ~4 miles on a hill it would not hit a gear stalled repeateadly
got to store it took a long time to get 'er started 1/2 hour
by time i passed the 2 miles back home i had drive in park/reverse/neutral/etc
so i think something loosened up so i check/read just the linkage still nothing but i get the click click from(just) the lever on tranny so we got action there
with column in park/neutral it starts..so it is mechanically shifting to hit the safty switch
a month wait for him to get it then he tells me (again) he did nothing wrong
the linkage not the selector/pin is bent

so no truck and out 3 grand + whatever he charges to check his own work(LOL)
NOW WHAT
thinking 3rd party TRANNY shop

PS he had to swap the linkage from the old ttranny to the new one

thanks for any help
please

If he pulled the trans and installed the trans he is completely responisble for it working right. There is no reason for it not to be right. How can he say it's not his fault? Did I miss something?

Tell him to fix it or you will see him in court! It sounds like he got into something he knew nothing about and now does not want to eat his own mistake.

I would call a few shops and explain your problems but don't mention this problem came about from another shop and see what they say. Let the other shops think you tried to do the work your self. You may get a true answer as to why the trans doesn't work.

Don't let this guy run over you. You have spent a very large amount of money and you have every right to have a working trans for that kind of dough.

I kind of got lost there too but, if you bought the trans from him and he installed it....it's his baby. If you bought it somewhere else and had him install it then you have to deal with where it was bought from. Sounds like this is a clutch problem and not a linkage problem.

got a trans from a reputble sourse had a moron(profesional moron lol) now he has no idea what he is doing and if i sue i get nothing because they wont inforce it
if i burn his shop down he gets much insurance money
i beat him senseless i feel better but end up in jail and making new scary friends lol

so i took it to some one i picked NOT suggested to me

they tore the thing down cleaned it out the metal floating about, inspected the guts, internally replaced the linkage(internal shaft) put er back in for a fair price or less

needless to say the things fixed and i can't even do any thing about the guy who screwed it up so screw it

on to other problems but i drove it for over a week with out failure of any thing fixed some emmissions, replaced a thermostat and washed it then lost oil pressure or gauge or sender or wireing to the previous but she is sitting until i get a decient set of gauges in day or three from now

thanks for the help tho

Glad you got the thing going. I had the same thing happen to me when I was younger and he was a preacher(spelling?) of all things. He rebuilt the trans and then it burnt up so bad inside I just went a got one from a junk yard. I didn't get 150 miles out of that thing.

The C-6 is an easy trans to rebuild on your own. It would be well worth it to get a trannie manual (motor's, if they still exist) and read up on them. Parts are cheap, too. The best thing you can do now is to install a shift improver from Transgo and make that tranny last 160,000 miles without ever touching it inside again.
