A little help..........My wife ran my bronco (FI) out of gas (dry), what is the proceedure to get this thing started without burning anything out? thankkssssss.......
Are you sure that the fuel pump is pumping? How old is your Bronco? Original fule pump?
I have heard that it is a good idea to keep at least a quarter tank of gas in the tank at all times. The gas helps keep the pump cool, resulting in longer life of the pump. Could be coincidence but running out of gas may have pushed the pump over the edge. In tank fuel pumps have a suction filter. Could be clogged but unlikely unless you've had a rust problem in the tank. Perhaps someone else could give some input.
Have you tried some starter fluid to see if she will fire? One suggestion, hook up a fuel pressure gauge if you have one. When these pumps go they give no warning. Good luck.

when you turn the key , do you initially hear a slight whiring , or buzzing back by the tank ? you may need to have someone else turn the key while you listen. if you dont hear that ,depending on the year of your truck , you may have a fuel delivery problem, which could be a few different things. did your gas guage show that it had gas when your engine quit running. how long has it been since the fuel filter was changed? i always try the simple things first . if you get the noise at the tank , take the filter loose on the engine side and see if theres flow. you will need to make sure to point it away from yourself or any heat sourse, and momentarily turn the key to on,dont try to start the engine , just turn the key to on. if it just trickles out its bad , it should blast out from that point on it gets to where you need testers ,ete.etc.to diagnose it there are relays and switches that can be reset and replaced . if you know how to read your computers codes , it will sometimes diagnose it for you , depending on the year of course. its probably not a good idea to blame your wife for any of this . s--t happens and apoligizing later for missplaced blame is hard on relationships ,and downright s--ks also, ive been watching way to much daytime tv, good luck, bob
