Hello friends
Could someone tell me how to take out my window on my drivers side ,it has a crack in it ,and I want to see if I can get a new glass for it.
Also does the metal around the glass come off the glass pretty hard,or is it glued on?????/
Sure, it's kind of easy to do. Just take out the window form the door. Take off access panel on door, loosen the regulator and then you can slide the reg arems off the tracks on the bottom of the window. Turn the glass 90 degrees in teh door, then pull it up through the window opening, it's a tight fit, but will come out. Look at the bottom channel of the window frame, there should be a small screw on the end, remove it, and be careful not to lose it. Get a block of wood, and a hammer, and slowly try to tap the metal frame where it meets the glass, just be careful not to break the glass, wear something to protect your eyes and hands in case the glass breaks. Just keep gouing around the frame, trying to break the seal between the setting tape and the glass. That's the basics of removing the glass from the frame. Or, you could go a method I went with a broken window, get a towel, put it over the galss, put the window over a trash can and start hitting it with a hammer. You can get most of the glass out, and use a flat blade screwdriver to remove any junk from the channel. This method of course will go much faster.
Thanks Gary for your help,I see you have a 46,is it painted white?
Ive taking the paint off my 47 right now ,and hoping to have it all painted by spring!
I wanted to paint it tutone, orange with black fenders,it would match harley davidson colors, but my wife said that would look stupid, so I am thinking about dark red with black fenders!!!
Nope, one of the '46's is painted a mix of grey and a black primer, soon to be painted burgandy this summer. I think the orange and black combo might look good. I do assume you mean the cab, hood, bed orange, with black fenders, grille panel and running boards black? That might look good...very Harley.
