I have a c6 behind my 351c and watching a video here about replacing servo to an R servo ,do I have to do any internal trans work or can I just pull old one out and put the new one in ? Thanks
I think that the R servo is only compatible with certain levers. Read up on that because I think that if you have the wrong combination it can break the band or cause some weird shift timing problems. Shift timing problems are the #1 killer on a C6.
I'll have to admit I do not know what an R servo does, but I am curious as to why you think this is necessary? When I rebuilt my the C6 for my '65 I added a Transco shift kit that allows full manual control if you want, otherwise it works normally. It also had 3 levels of shift firmness I believe; I went for the firmest. That might have been a little too aggressive but 30 years later the thing still works great and will bark the tires at both shifts. As far as I know the internals are all original but for the wear items in the rebuild kit....and the shift kit.
