Hi all. I lurk here quite a bit to soak up some knowledge, but couldn't find the answer to what I'm looking for. I have an 86 F150 300 I6 that I'm looking to replace the stock intake manifold and carb with the Offy 6019DP 4 bbl and a Holly 390. I'll upgrade to some efi exhaust manifolds, but im saving that for a later date when I have more time on my hands.
I'll be taking off the EGR "spacer" and not replacing it with anything; it'll be carb on intake. Will I need a spacer to make up for that? Does the offy 6019DP sit higher than the stock intake? Will a roughly 1 inch spacer in between be too tall and I'll have to adjust elsewhere to make this setup fit?
*I originally posted this in the 80-86 forum, but I thought this was probably a better place for it.
The only spacer you can use on a Offenhauser DP is a 4 hole spacer.
If you use an open spacer then you defeat the purpose of the DP intake manifold.
Having said that, the use of the DP intake manifold is not recommended by many of us and have had much better results with the Offenhauser C intake manifold.
There have been several of us that had the DP and sold them and got the C intake in its place.
I personally have used the Clifford intake manifold.
It has a water jacket for coolant from the heater hose that keeps the intake manifold temperature regulated year-round for good fuel economy and throttle response.
Don't let anyone tell you that regulating the intake manifold temperature doesn't make a difference.
Agreed. In my experience, the Offenhauser C is just the way to go.
It also makes it much easier to do things like an aftermarket EFI, or turbo setup in the future, should you ever choose.
Unfortunately, I had already purchased the DP. I'll manage to get it to work. I did some fabrication to get the throttle cable to fit by creating a bell crank (courtesy of FuzzFace2). I ended up getting a coolant pass-through spacer to help with heating and I also found that the 390 carb throttle lever will likely hit the intake without a spacer (Clearance needed is like 1/4 in).
Good to hear you got it working but still needs some tweaking.
When done post some pictures as it may help others that have gone with the DP manifold.

I still have my 6019 DP. I don't currently have a 300 6 cyl. To run it on but I never regretted buying it.
It made a night and day difference. I never ran my engine over 4500 rpm and it pulled strong over the entire rpm. I used a ford motorcraft carb off a 289 without adjustment and it was flawless. I got better fuel mileage as well.
It out performed my 351 m and 302 trucks in every way.
