My wife's 2016 Expo with about 133k mile on it has been doing something funky lately. I know that it needs the catalytic converter replaced, if that's relevant to any of this. I would assume it isn't but you never know with these vehicles anymore.
It's kind of hard to describe what the trans is doing... I guess I could say that it's skipping? I've only noticed it in 6th gear but it does this skip... Like, at first, I though I was hitting bumps in the road. It felt like that and the whole vehicle would jump, sort of. Then I realized I was on a brand new road. Now that I've noticed it, I can tell that it does it all the time, especially when everything is warmed up and we take it on longer trips. It's really bad when climbing a hill. Do I have a transmission getting ready to dump out on me or what do you guys think the problem is?
Does the skipping feel like rumble strips? If so, it's the clutch in the torque converter. Good news is, the 6R80 can be usually saved by simply changing the transmission filter. This takes care of a high percentage of them that come through the shop
