2002 Ranger won't start
Does anyone have any tips for me to try and get it running before I have it towed to a mechanic? I'd appreciate any input you may have.
Thanks,
Sounds like you're saying the engine turns over using the starter but the engine does not start and stay running. Does it make any sounds at all ike it's trying to start?
Since it's a cold weather problem the first thing that I'd try is starting fluid. That's why it was created. Any auto parts store, maybe even your local gas station or corner grocery store or even the big chains should have it.
Find a port in to the intake system after the filter and squirt a big shot in. If you have spark it should start. It might not stay running though if you don't have injection or fuel.
If the weather warms up you might try it again before having it towed.
p.s. I've also read, but not experienced, that cold can cuase a weak fuel pump to lock up. The fix is to bang on the fuel tank to break it loose.

The weather has warmed up and I'm still having the same issue. I'll go try and bang on the fuel tank a few times.
You are correct, the starter is turning but no sounds of ignition. I'll give the starter fluid a try too.
Thanks
Also, when you turn the key to "run (not start)," you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. If you can't, that can be the culprit
