No fuel to the rail after new fuel pump

I made the mistake of letting my 96 Explorer sit for 5 years without starting it and when I went back to it there was no sound from the fuel pump and no fuel at the rail. Having experienced this before i replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter and now hear it priming the system when the key is placed in the on position. However I'm not getting any fuel to the rail even after multiple (20+) cycles of the key.

So I dropped the tank again and everything appears to be connected and no damage that i can see to the wiring harness or hoses, and verified that I installed the fuel filter in the correct direction. I also checked the inertia switch, fuses and relay and everything checks out.

Any suggestions on what I should be looking at/for next? Clogged fuel line from the pump to the filter?

I was thinking about removing the fuel line from the pump and see if it outputs anything. If it does is there a way to connect a pressure gauge direct to the fuel pump?

Does your Explorer have a Shrader valve on the fuel rail? If so, are you checking for fuel there or or how are you determining that you're not getting fuel to the rail? Assuming you're checking for fuel pressure at the Shrader...
I'd start by disconnecting the input to the fuel filter and see if you get any fuel to the filter. That will at least tell you which side of the filter to inlet to focus on. If you're not getting fuel to the filter, then is there a chance that you wired the pump backwards? Did you do a drop in pump or a universal that you had to splice in? If drop in, then disconnecting the line at the tank would be a good next step to see if the pump is pumping. If so, it should then be pretty easy to use compressed air at the fuel filter end to try to blow out whatever is blocking the line.

If you get fuel to the fuel filter, then connect that inlet and disconnect the filter outlet. See if pressure is making it through the filter. If now, well that's easy - replace the filter. If so, the connect a tire pump / air line to the Shrader and set the pressure to about 40 psi to see if you can clear the line to the filter.

I was checking at the shrader valve with a gauge i know works, used it in the past, and there was nothing. After removing the gauge i pressed the shrader valve down directly and there was not even a drop of gas.

Disconnected the fuel line from the filter input and still no gas when cycling the key.

I replaced the pump with an entire unit, i will disconnect the line from the pump and test it this weekend.
