2012 F250 super Duty "XL" - any advice to add a Factory Trailer Brake Controller?
Good Evening;
I have the: 2012 F250 super Duty "XL" - it came factory with the Factory Tow Hitch and 4 pin/7 pin wire connectors installed BUT... did not come with a Factory Trailer Brake Controller.
(I am guessing that this truck did not come with a trtailer brake controller because it has the Factory 3.73:1 gear ratio, I am also guessing that if this had the 4:10:1 gear ratio the Factory would have installed a trailer brake controller, it would make sense to me if this was why.)
any advice to add a Factory Trailer Brake Controller?
(I will attach pics shortly)
the electrical connection for A Factory Brake Controller in connected to the back of the coin holder in the lower middle of the dash.
I have watched 2 YouTube vids on doing this but not for an XL model.
Question:
After I install a Factory Brake Controller..... will the truck have to be taken to a shop to get the added brake controller to Actually Work Correctly?
I'm not 100% positive, but I believe you get the brake controller and a faceplate and plug it in. You will need to turn on the brake controller. You do this at the dealer or maybe Forscan can do it, we paid $65 at our dealer, I think, for a '14 F150. A salvage yard may be the best place to find the controller and faceplate.

What year Superdutys would I be looking for that have the same dash and electronoics as my 2012?
