Howdy,
I'm having an issue where my power steering only seems to be working above idle. If I'm at idle, it's as if the power steering pump isn't working. In other words, when I accelerate, it works perfectly. I topped off fluid, which was in the safe to begin with, but the issue still remains.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure if it's been changed, I purchased the truck less than a year ago. I'll check if the belt is slipping tomorrow. I have noticed the brakes seem a bit mushy, but I chocked it up to air in the lines. Could there be a connection between the two?
I'll definitely look into that saginaw pump conversion kit. It's fairly lifted so improved power steering would be greatly appreciated.
The power steering pump runs the steering and brakes through they hydroboost. It's common to have loss of steering boost at idle when the brakes are applied. Weak pump.
Howdy, sorry for the late response. I had some more serious issues arise on the truck these last couple days, so been preoccupied with that.
They are 35x12.50R17LT 125R tires. I should note, I always make sure I don't dry-turn them, but even so, I don't know what the previous owner did.
After talking with some buddies, they suspect it could be the hydroboost as well. The brakes started acting up as well, so I suspect that even more. Thanks again for the response.
