I know this is a truck forum buy the Y block was also put in yep, cars. I have two 1957 sedans one with a stock 312 4V Ford-O-Matic that I may have questions. I drove a 57 many moons ago, in high school and when this came up I could not pass it up. I have it running and I'm doing brakes all the way around including the master cylinder. The trans is dumping fluid from the front seal, I have got it moved a short distance, one bay to another in my shop. I found a rebuilt transmission from a local that rebuilt it and the engine, he drove this about 4 months. He decided it did not have enough power, he pull it and went 429 C-6, I got the trans. This 57 should be on the road in weeks, the second 57 has a 95 302HO 5 speed with a lot of other mods that don't fit in the Y block forum..
the one "car" i kick myself in the asterisk every day for selling was the 57 sedan delivery powered by a 312 with McCullough supercharger and 3 speed floor shift. i got it with one dead cylinder for $50. a full tune up had it purring. ran it for 3 weeks, and a guy with more money than brains just HAD TO HAVE IT.
so it left for $1,000.
probably just as good, i would most likely only had wrecked it. it was a handful, but fun to drive.
Heck it's a car and most of us here are motor heads and just love cars/trucks/SUV's. Sniper EFI fuel system, Sniper Ignition, disc brakes up front 58 w/ 57 front and rear clips. New steering, tilt column, electronic dash, aluminum radiator. Still a work i progress
