As my engine install reaches its final steps (292 y block 1964 f100), I was beginning to reassemble my clutch linkage but the lock nut refuses to move and when I try and torque it the threads start to twist. As far as I know this part is obsolete and I’d like to not break it in half. I’m trying out this penetrant I was recommended, kroil, but if that dosent work, would I be safe to cut off the threads just below the nut, allowing me to not risk snapping it in half? I never had to adjust the clutch before the engine rebuild, so I don’t know how much those few millimeters will affect driving. Thanks for any help or input, photo of linkage attached, with stubborn nut at the bottom of the photo.
I think the OG part # is C1TT-7521-C. Dennis Carpenter reproduces ones for newer trucks but doesn't list lengths... The OG was 8" or 8.75" I believe, yes? The one in my 62 was welded together and bent when I got it. I'm going hydraulic so don't really need it. You could always cut and weld your end on a new threaded rod... The nut is unique so try and get that off clean. You may want to soak it in Evaporust for a few days by the looks of it...
