I plan on going to the beach a lot and a little off roading plus when I go to the beach I will probably be doing just a little bit of recovery because cars get stuck down here a lot, mainly people not knowing how to drive on sand, I also plan to get a decent boat later on. Should I go with a f350 diesel srw or drw
Go srw F-350 so you don't get stuck as easy, and your only burning 4 tires instead of 6. Not sure on size of boat your looking at but new F350 srw have much higher gvw than the older ones. Get rear towing airbags to to help it not squat too much if its a super HEAVY boat.
Having two DRWS and owned half a dozen, for beach sand get a srw with a rear locker, what about a Tremor with front LSD?
mine have lSD in the rear but are very very front heavy and have skinny tires. They sink
I think with what you wrote I'd be looking at a gas engine SRW truck unless that boat is going to be a whopper and live behind the truck, in which case I'd recommend a diesel DRW to pull the boat and something like a jeep or a Bronco for going on the beach. Diesel engines are heavy and that extra weight will make the front axle sink in soft surfaces like sand a lot more than with a lighter gas engine. Duallies also don't get as good of traction in soft surfaces as SRW trucks. A heavy narrow-tired diesel F-450 will sink up to the front axle easily in soft surfaces and require getting pulled out. I know, I have one and have to be very careful when hauling hay out of the fields to avoid anywhere soft or slippery, else it's tractor and log chain time. It is great at hauling and pulling heavy loads on the road but anything more than a bone-dry dirt, field, or gravel and it's not going very far.
