Seized engine
and then, the engine seized on me coming down 77 north in bastian va. So now what?
it was a v8353 3 speed. Garage said with an engine bay that big I had options. Again given I’m a newbie what should I be tho on g about. One hand I’m included to replace with exact same thing a used v8353 - which I’ve found. On the other, given fuel efficiency and other considerations should I consider a swap? If so, what? I hear LS but again I’m not really sure what that all entails. If I get an engine do I also get a new transmission? If i get both even if not a v8 352, does that “simply” replace what I have?
What’s the most economical, easiest way to do this…and get my truck running again.
who rebuild engines or installs engines in wv?
Thanks

Quickest and easiest way to get your truck back on the road is to find a good used 352, 360 or 390 and swap it in. No fabrication required.
ok. That makes sense. Perhaps a dumb question, but if I get just the motor will that connect to the existing transmission I have? Which is the original? I ask because am I looking for just an engine or an engine and transmission? Will it literally be pull out the engine and/or transmission and put in the new one? Are you saying if I went to a 390 which is a bigger engine? I would be fine? Thank you so much.
You could always pull your engine and rebuild it if you have the time. You can't learn any younger. Lots of willing help here on the forum.
I would say the simplest and most cost-effective way is to replace the engine with the same or have your engine rebuilt. I am sure there are some engines that will bolt to your transmission. I would check with the people in the Transmission forum and see if they can help with bolt pattern matches!
Like Dr Charles said, swapping in anything else i.e. LS will take a lot of effort and money.
