I have a 2015 Expedition with the EcoBoost 3.5 l twin turbocharged engine. There is a sensor of some sort right next to the airbox that I would like to know what it is and what it does. The reason behind this is I'm thinking of replacing the stock air box with a cold air intake to give me a little more turbo whistle. I'm pretty sure the new cold air intake does not have a spot for this sensor because it is a dual filter cold air intake. One tube and filter for each turbo. So I'm wondering if eliminating the sensor will hinder the engine performance in any way or also disqualify it from passing California smog. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thank you.
