Hey all! I don’t foresee many having to replace their rear hub assemblies, but after my drivers side parking brake locked up and damaged my drivers side hub, I am officially on the search. I pulled it apart and replaced the seal, hoping that was the only damage done by ripped apart metal parking brake pieces 😳 Sadly, it gouged a piece of my hub, and I can’t get a good seal on it. So, I have been searching for a new rear hub assembly, but I am completely surprised at my lack of success. What’s the story with this ‘99 rear hub? I see a couple on eBay, and local parts stores don’t even list a rear hub option. Can later model hubs be used by chance? I have read about later model hubs and rotors being sub planted, but I don’t remember if that was only front hub, etc (new flange going from 10 mm up to 13 mm on the later models). Any info would be appreciated.. I have done my due diligence in my forum and be searched, but I am getting nothing of confident value. Thanks in advance all!
While the hub does need replacement, it is still installed on the truck since it is functional to the axle and wheel. The major issue it is leaking gear oil due to the damage on the diff side of the hub. These pics are not my hub, but they will show the part and location of damage Wheel/axle side of hub. (Not mine) This shows the mating surface that was gouged and while I did smooth it down, it is providing an improper seal with the hub and seal itself.
