Hub Issue

I was trying to get my left front hub to unlock by turning the driveshaft and the dial on the hub, and then the dial came off the hub and when I tried to put it back on, only part of it stuck in. The left front hub is still locked and the dial sticks out and is tough to move.

Anyone know how to remove the dial, and is it safe to run without the left front hub in? I want to leave it out cause if I put it back in it'll lock that one side.

And yes Warns will be ordered soon.

Looks like it time for a new set of Warn Premiums. I don't think I would trust them even if I could get them back together. New OEMs are over $300 each.

Good call zx250, warn premiums are the way to go. Cheaper, more reliable and good reputation.

Since your dial has come out, can you pull it back out and take pictures of the back of the dial and what is inside please? It might help us figure out how to disassemble the **** from the locking hub. Thanks.

I could not get the dial out without fear of damaging the internal membrane. From what I see in the picture, it almost looks like an oring that holds the dial in place.

I would sure like to get ahold of that hub and finish disecting it so I could add it to the autolock hub lube page! It may turn out to be an easy fix for the frozen dial problems.

I"m with Guzzle. I'd love to be able to take one of those things apart. I didn't think that part of the hub was servicable, but it appears that it may be.

For your question, none of us know how to remove the dial so I can't help you there. Running it without the hub in...I'm not sure I'd do it. That's just inviting dirt an water to get into the bearings.

If I were you, for a temp fix to keep the dirt out but not have that one front locked is to remove the gears and mechanism from the inside of the locker and put it back in empty. You'd be safe that way until your Warns arrive.
