My mechanic is rebuilding my Ford transmission and says he is having trouble finding these plastic end caps for the solenoids. He said Sonnax is the only place that sells them but only to distributors, not shops. He claims it's special order and part may be superseeded! Am I getting the runaround or do I even need the end caps? Sonnax part #36940-30
They have nothing to do with the solenoid operation. I would recommend replacing the EPC solenoid with an OE solenoid. The rest of them I usually blow air and Brakleen in them and make sure the valve in them strokes. BTW, especially if this is behind a diesel, make sure you have at least 10 qts of fluid in it before start and all of your grounds are clean. It is not uncommon to destroy pumps on these on new start ups. HTH. 40 years transmission builder.
