I hope this is not a redundant post. I'm a new member on this forum as of today. I did a search for my thread title before posting and came up empty.
I have a 2000 F450 7.3 XL. It's an 11' mason dump. I am the original owner.
I would like to add fog lights and would like to use a factory set up.
I'm aware of a headlight light switch that has the fog light feature. I am not sure if there is a prepped wire on my vehicle already. I don't know if I need a relay or if it's just a matter of using an existing spot on my fuse panel to operate them.
I have a 2016 F350 crew/long bed. I will be adding factory style fog lights. This vehicle has the wire in place under the radiator support with a factory dummy plug. Essentially, I can use a factory fog light harness and it's plug'nplay. I'll need to swap out headlight as well.
Wondering if my 2000 F450 has this same availability?
I don't want run a separate power supply to a dedicated switch. I want to keep it factory clean if possible.
I did it to both our trucks...00 F350 and 00 Excursion...with kits I bought on line which comes with the wiring harnesses. It came with its own switch, but I bought a factory replacement headlight switch which has the **** pull out for the fog light operation. I also bought replacement LED bulbs for them and never used the halogen bulbs as supplied. What I found is that the early style...01 to 04...has a hole in the center of the black reflector in front of the bulb. The 05+ style does not have that hole, but also has different mounting brackets. Once I saw how poor the light was I did some further research to find out it's that black reflector in front of the bulb that causes this. So what several have done is put the fog light lens in an oven to heat it enough to be able to separate the plastic clear lens from the black mounting part, remove the black reflector, then put back together with some sort of adhesive glue. I can't remember, but think it's possible to buy the 05 units and swap the mounting brackets, but I didn't want to buy 2 sets of lights for each truck and wasn't crazy about the oven process. The biggest impact relative to light thrown in front of the truck at night was the 03+ style headlight lenses with LED bulbs that mimic the horizontal halogen illuminating wires. So I have them installed and basically don't use them, and in fact thinking of just removing them. I had a write up on this on these forums, so you can probably do a search through me...thinking it may have been in the 99 up Superduty forums.
Thank you
Yeah I have seen plenty of aftermarket but direct replacement fogs lights with harnesses. I know about the headlight switch that has the pull out to use the fogs.
I wanted to know if my year and model has wiring in place to which I can connect a factory type harness to the lights and utilize the headlight switch.
Thank you

I don't think so...I thought the Excursion might as it typically has things on it the regular F series trucks have a year or so later. Even the headlight switches between the 2 trucks are different...my F350 versus the Excursion...
The more I research the more it looks like it won't work.
Fog lights weren't available until 2001. There doesn't seem to be any headlight switches for 2000 with the pull out fog option. So I will conclude there's no wire harness in place to extend out.
Looks like my only option is to have them on a separate switch. Not horrible.

It depends on which headlight switch you have. The Excursion with half round ends has options to use the factory plug in, which is what I did on that one. My F350 has a different style...which your F450 more than likely has...has to be re-pinned or cut and spliced.

Thanks for the replies.
It's possible my plug is the same as your F350 but I'm not willing to cut and splice and re-pin.
