Tach Help
So little background on my RIG. Its a 93 Bronco XLT 5.0 5speed, the truck was parked back in 09 due to engine over temp resulting in a lock up. After I got the truck I had originally planned to run a 300 I had from my old f150, but after starting the tear down I found more wrong with the engine then it was worth to rebuild. I found a good 302 and did a full reseal and refresh (Was recently rebuilt), installed into the truck and went with an HEI distributor and FiTech EFI. The OEM EFI was trashed after 15 years with ethanol sitting in it and the cost didn't out way the benefit of going with a 4 barrel TB design. The engine runs great with lots of power for a stock engine with minor upgrades (Exhaust, midrise dual plane, 1in TB spacer, and the HEI) so far I'm happy with the build only change Id have done differently is I would have gone Holley over FiTech if I was to do it again. Here is where my question comes in, I have the hand controller available for gauges but since the OEM dash has a Tach I would like to get it functioning. How would I go about getting the OEM dash to read the Tach signal wire off the HEI? Do I simply run the signal wire to the gauge or do I need a resistor? I've seen on other diagrams for the OEM coil that a 1.8K ohm resistor is used on V8 applications. Has anyone had experience with running an HEI on the OEM Tach?
