Tach Addition

Hey everyone...Have a 93 f150 XLT 5.0 (actually 331 stroker), no factory tach, but I had a friend generously donate a BMW heads-up tach. Will be a great addition, reflects on the windshield and looks great. Can get her going with the pos/neg hookup, but wondered how to tap into the rpm readings. Problem is, the directions are all in GERMAN! Didn't know if I tap into the juice for the MSD blaster coil or if the distributor has a tab I need to run off. It is a 4wire system, can't translate what the 4th wire goes to though. I have a pos, neg, rpm signal wire, and another wire. Any thoughts or suggestions as to getting it to read and work or is it not possible to add a digital tach on the truck without some serious mods? Let me know if anyone has ideas. THANKS!

The tach that I helped one of my friend put in his truck had 4 wires. 1 hot, 1 ground, 1 signal wire, and 1 that tied into the lights, so when it was dark and you turned on the lighs, the face lit up.

Don't know about your crazy german one tho.

I would imagine that on a HUD it would be a "dimmer". It would make the tach less bright when you turn on your headlights, so at night you aren't completely blocking your view with it.

Those things have to be pretty bright during the day to see, but at night it would be overpowering.

I can't say for 100% certain, but that's my guess.
