It has been a long winter. Putting non-freezing windshield washer fluid in is just standard preventative routine. Winter hit early and very hard. I put the winter fluid in my vehicles but there was summer fluid in all of them. Washer's are seldom run during the winter. Vehicles are started and the defroster clears the windshield. As a result the washer motor's run very little or not at all.
Summer arrived quickly. The need to wash off that winter buildup on the windshield surfaced on road trips. Had to keep a jug of water handy to spray on the windshields as I traveled.
Disassembled two washer reservoirs. One on a 04, F-350 and one on a 97, F-250. Much easier on the 97 since it is all out in the open with two fasteners holding the jug in. On the 04 it requires removing the battery to get to the reservoir. more of a pain.
The 04 needed a new pump / motor assembly.
The 97 just needed a good clean out to get the dirt and slime out of the pump area.
Just part of spring time maintenance in Montana.
