Still getting cat codes post cat swap

Hey all, I am at a loss here with my 6.2. Im turning over 113k, it doesnt get run much but Ihad the driver side manifold replaced and my cats replaced at my local ford. The permanent codes cleared and while i was at it i added the stainless works exhaust because my resonators were pretty rough. Ran great for a while, but out of the blue the code came back. Took it back to my ford dealer and they cant find anything wrong. To add to it, the p0420/p0430 codes are permanent. They didnt even bother to flash the ecm, just cleared the pending codes to wipe out the CEL. My only though was the cats they had to use were catco due to ford being on backorder nationwide. Any thoughts? I uploaded a freeze frame from my scan tool. The fuel trims are running rich to my knowledge being negative but nothing else stands out to myself. Any input is appreciated

Why were the cats replaced? There is usually a reason why they fail at 100k.

thats kinda where im at. The plugs/wires were done at 102k. Cat codes maybe started at 104k and cats/o2s/driver manifold were replaced at 111k. Im not sure if changing plugs are related or if its coincidence. Is there is a way to test the efficiency of the cylinders without removing the plugs for inspection? These are the only 2 codes ive gotten, i have not seen any actual misfire codes and i cant really feel it knocking ir missing while in the truck

This is an old story, could be an old wives tale, but Bosch sensors and Fords for some reason have issues. I had ones last a very short time. This is going back a long time, but I am just throwing it out. That still does not explain BOTH banks and why they were replaced.

Does your scanner show mode 6 tests? It may show misfires there. There could be just enough not to trigger the light.

There are physical cat tests (e.g. temperature difference with an IR gun). This is stuff you could look up.

PCMs could go bad, but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion yet.

Any Resolution

Hi there,

I’ve been reading your thread about your plight with the P0420/0430 codes.

I’ve got a 2013 F350 6.2L with 160,000 mi. and have been getting intermittent codes, lately.

Anyway, I’ve followed the few threads you posted on the forums and the last one I saw was you were at a loss after still getting codes after you replaced the cats, sensors, etc.

Any chance you had any luck finally tracking down the issue? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Barry

one common issue with non-oem cats on the 6.2 is that they will cause cat inefficiency codes. i got those codes when i went to long tube headers with high flow cats.
