So I have been getting PO420 and po430 trouble codes for a long time now but I never really did anything about it. They would go away for a while and then come back. The truck always seemed to run fine. This all changed last week when I noticed my gas mileage went down some and the engine stalled at the red light. It easily restarted and I continued home but realized that it was probably the cats and they needed to be replaced. So I took it to the local muffler shop and they replaced both cats for $500 parts and labor. I just got back from Oklahoma and put about 1,200 miles on the truck and it ran great. The only thing that troubles me is what looks like an O2 sensor. I don't know if it's the original ones that were on there or not. I did not pay for them to replace them but they just don't look like the ones that were on there before I don't know. ???
just looks kind of strange what do you think?
The first one looks kinda new, the second one definitely original based on the corrosion on the "nut" portion - maybe they destroyed it, and just replaced it for free and didn't mention it. How much was the job?
How many miles on the truck so far? Are you the original owner? Ever had any misfires or anything that might have caused the cats to go?

Yes I am the original owner. I think it has about 637000 MI. I had a cylinder 3 misfire a while back but I fixed it with a new cop. The guy at the muffler shop said one of the cats was clogged up so I guess that's what is my problem. Running good now
