Belt blew, had to manual steer and PS line blew a leak too?

On the 2002, the belt blew to hell and jumped off. Wrapped around things that I didn't think were possible to wrap around.

Just put on the new belt, tensionier, and idler. Everything spins smooth and went together well, but I still have intermittent/no PS and no power brakes. I am assuming that the manual steering intervention may have blown seal on a line to the hydroboost? It did blow the cap off the PS reservoir and ATF went everywhere so it is hard to pinpoint specific leak location. I sucked out remaining PS reserv and refill with synth ATF while I was in there.

Ordering new pressure lines to and from hyrdoboost now. Anything else I'm missing? Did PS pump get damaged? Everyhthing worked fine before belt explosion.
Below is a pic of the boys wrapping it a few months back.
Thanks!

May get away with jacking tires up, turn engine on and with tires suspended, have ur boy turn wheel lock to lock while pumping brake..and you keep filling up the system... Get the air out...probly why you have the intermittent issue

Jacked up the front end and we did slow spins from side to side, tried it while pulsing the brakes lightly too. No improvement. Checked fluid again, full, but frothy, seems air bound.

Go ahead with replacing lines and hope for the best?

I'm inclined to think the belt was taken out by the ps pump going out.

PS fluid should not be ‘frothy’.

Maybe consider flushing and replacing the fluid with fresh ATF that is all the same type?

When filling system, I like to fill reservoir, crank engine for a couple of seconds, then top off reservoir. Repeat until reservoir stays full. Then, with wheel off ground, start turning steering wheel small increments and topping reservoir as fluid is consumed.

These belts are ridiculously tough and failure without another problem is rare. Inspect idler and tensioner assembly so you don’t take out a new, expensive belt.

Ya, the pump is starting to sound suspect. May just put rebuilt one and new lines on, prices aren't too bad. Any tips on pulley removal? Looks like puller tool needed. And an inline filter to return hose while we're in there?

Remove the bracket with pump still on it and change pump on the workbench. ‘Rent’ the pulley remover/installer tool from the autoparts store. There are (4) bolts that hold the bracket to the engine and this additional few minutes of labor reduces the aggravation level of this job 1000%.

The alternator grounds through the alternator body, through the bracket, into the block and back to the batteries. Removing the bracket gives you the opportunity to clean these contact points and mitigate alternator/charging problems.

Consider doing something like this instead of replacing the failure prone pressure hose.

There is no good reason to add a filter.

I think you just have air in the system. If you turn the wheel without the pump turning it will overfill the reservoir and vent out the top.
Let it sit until the foam/bubbles clear up and continue filling and cycling the wheel. Eventually all the air will get worked out.

Toyota says 40 times lock to lock, not sure if ford has a recommendation.

Reman pump is in. Harbor freight PS pulley puller worked fine. Worked the air out with wheels in the air and it is much better. Quieter than last pump but still whines some like a ford pump. Brakes are tighter than ever. I also did the below lines. Everything, including pump and lines, was $100. Boys took it out and I put new one in, I got screwed, taking it out was much faster!
