Hi all!

I am trying to fix my 53 flathead V8 for a long time without any success so far so I am reaching out you guys !

The engine is starting, runs normal first. After 30 seconds, the engine tends not to run with all cylinders and then shut off.
First, I thought about a fuel pump issue. I have rebuilt the original mechanical pump with new valves, diaphragm and gaskets.
I can see a few (not many, just a few sometimes) bubbles in the hose between the fuel pump and the carburetor.
I have also rebuilt the carburetor with new gaskets, new power valve.
I checked the spark plugs, they are all very black, so the engine is running rich.
I have replaced the distributor rotor, changed the condenser. New spark plugs wires. The coil is also new, 1,3 ohm, I don't have a resistor.

The engine revs fine most of the time but sometimes I press the throttle and the engine dies and then revs up. I haven't checked under load, might be an issue.
Anyways, the engine dies a bit later even after reving it up, it ends running badly and dying.
I have added an electric pump in line with the mechanical pump and I am not sure how to consider the progress since the truck still doesn't rev up smoothly and dies.
When it dies, I just need to restart the truck and it's running fine.

My timing is set to 0 degrees when the vaccum is disconnected and 1 degree when vaccum line connected.

Please help me since I am now out of ideas... :-)

Not as many people come to the flathead forum. I guess they are more interested in the overall truck than just the engines.
