I have a 2011 6.7 with 45,000 miles on it fully deleted and tuned .... truck has always ran amazing and I have about 1000 miles on it since it’s been deleted and it’s ran great, I run it in the stock tune 99 percent of the time .... today I was driving and out of nowhere I start hearing a ticking from the engine compartment, I kept driving and then I got to a hill and started accelerating up it and the truck was shuttering and vibrating like a misfire.... then the ticking got worse, and the truck exhaust sounded “less loud” .... I ran the diognostics on my tuner and it says there are NO codes .... the turbo seems to be building pressure like normal, I got it to 21psi on the stick tune while this was going on, it doesn’t seem like the turbo is bad .... I checked the air filter but I just cleaned it and it was fine..... I don’t know what to do any ideas?
A ticking sound is not usually attributed to a turbo or a misfire but something loose such as maybe rocker arm(s)/lifter(s)/pushrod(s). Can you determine what side is ticking of it is both sides? If you can determine only one side, then you might need to pllt that intake/valve cover to determine if you have a pushrod or rocker arm problem.
I checked the oil and it is at the right level and didn’t seem to smell like diesel fuel .... this is very odd to me becuase it runs and drives pretty much fine other than the loud clicking/knocking noise and it shakes under low acceleration .... what amazes me is that 5 minutes before I noticed it I got on the throttle to pass someone and it was perfectly fine during that and after for 5 minutes and then boom all the sudden it started knocking ... I’ll also add that I had just filled an empty tank right before I passed that car and before it started knocking
You might want to look inside your fuel tank. Its very possible the fuel you pumped was contaminated and is causing a fuel knock. High pressure common rail fuel systems do not like fuel contamination (too much water, gasoline, def, old fuel).

drain the separator and check for water. otherwise it sounds to me like a rocker arm issue or maybe an injector issue.
yeah I brought it to the mechanic, I’m mechanically inclined but don’t trust myself enough to dig that deep into something that could cost me more money in the long run .... I hope it’s something simple and not valves smacking the piston or something catastrophic like that .... I just bought the truck a year ago from a dealer and am obviously still paying on it .... that’s the part that’s nerve racking lol
