Took delivery of a new 2021 King Ranch F350 today. Initial impressions and some questions

Ordered at the beginning of January and received in Alaska today:

King Ranch 6.7
Vinyl floors
Camper package
FX4
Stowaway ramps
Star White two tone
Front/rear splash guards
Spray in bed liner
5th wheel/goose neck prep package
etc

Mustang Club for X plan pricing worked smoothly. Saved me $150 in doc fees too. OTD price was ~$80,500.

Truck looks great on the outside. Look up close and you'll find some flaws in the paint, aluminum window trim scratched up, window seal glue gooping out, etc. Just not a lot of attention to detail. When I inspected the truck it was filthy and the dealer washed it while we did the paperwork. Noticed this stuff after I left.

My old truck, which I kept, is a deleted 2015 King Ranch with 200k+ miles. Has been a great truck and the best vehicle I've owned. I bought this new one because DPF deletes have became increasingly more difficult and didn't want to wait until they became impossible since my old truck was getting pretty worn out (very hard use). I'm dropping the new one off at the shop later this week to get the emissions squared away and some other things done to it.

I should note that I had not test driven or even looked at new trucks before I ordered one online. My initial impressions are the new truck rides well. Steering is a lot heavier. Engine seems sluggish but I imagine that will go away after its tuned. By biggest complaint is Ford got rid of the higher level door panel pockets, WTF were they thinking!!!! The side storage area along the center console is a lot more narrow. The cup holder configuration is a down grade. Interior buttons, especially the 4x4 shift ****, feel like they are made of a cheap child's toy plastic. Sun visor material is cloth and will be pretty hard to clean. Feels very cheap. Fuel door hinge is plastic. They took away the USB ports on top of the dash, and all of the charge ports are no longer constant on. I've read that can be changed with forscan

Have some questions, hoping you guys can help with.

Where would the best place to get switched power from inside the cab? I would like to hard wire my radar detector and dash camera.
The truck seems to have a front facing camera on the grill, but I've been unable to find what its use is for since it doesn't come on when you park close to things and I can't seem to turn it on through sync.
Is it possible to get the transmission temperature and engine oil temperature to appear on the same screen?
Under the rear seat in the storage compartment, there is a slider that says lock and unlock. Any idea what this does?

This plate on my tail gate is for the stowaway ramps, but is this hole supposed to be there?

Overall I like my old truck a whole lot better. Hopefully this one will grow on me, but I may be on the hunt for a low mileage 2016 King Ranch in cherry condition. I like my storage pockets.

Here is the window trim. I would expect better out of an 80k truck but undecided if it would be too Karen to complain about.

I can’t answer any of your questions, but that’s a hell of a truck. That sucks about the scratches and blemishes on a brand new $80k rig, it should be flawless. Me being me, I’d have to say something to the dealer.

Howdy neighbor.

For the cameras, I have a button on the dash that can enable the front or other cameras, comes in handy when parking or the 360 camera view.

Mine is pretty peppy, maybe a few miles will help. Banks pedal commander should also help. I don't need it on my truck but I am in a different truck than yours.

Isn't there a plastic film over your $80k plastic trim? FWIW, this is the 6.7L engine forum, the F250/F350 body thread is down the hall, 2nd door on your left.

Hey new guy...why you gotta be like that? He's in the right area. This isn't just about the 6.7 engine. Why are you here just making negative comments? Let's see how you feel about your trim not being perfect when you drop $80k on a truck. If you don't like his post, don't comment. Move on.

Only question to OP is why are you going to void your warranty by deleting your truck? This is a beautiful truck. I believe they have ironed out the emission flaws from the early years.

When are we going to put some Banks items on that nice truck?

When I bought a new vehicle it went to the body shop to make the paint right. Dealer covered it.

For reliability and for extended idling. I often leave it running at work when its -20*F or below

8+ hours, sometimes more depending. Other times a few hours while I nap on the road

Beautiful truck you have there. Quality control definitely lefts a bit to be desired but this seems to the way of life for everything.

My 19 has a hole on the tailgate too but I have not idea what it's for. The slider is for the lockable underseat storage box. I believe at 1:10 of the video is what you're referring to.

If you want to put your truck on a diet, right now is the time of do so as the EPA is cracking down hard. Tuning my 19 was definitely the best thing I could do. Got more responsiveness and mpg out of the truck while not having to worry about the egr, dpf, or def giving me any issues. Based on how you're planning to run your truck, it might be for the better that you de-lete it. Give it some time, I'm sure the truck will grow on you. The 2020+ have been getting a lot of positive feedback especially with the 10 speed and the bump in mpg. Hope you enjoy your truck.

One question I can answer. The hole in the tailgate is for the lock pin that secures the bed extender that is a dealer installed option.
