Ford 2011 F350.What rear axle is better for towing?

3.73 locker is a good ratio for towing. If you are going to tow super heavy then 4.30 might be better. I found the 3.73 with a 6.7 a good around town/highway gear for decent mileage and also decent mileage for towing.

What about a 3.55 with 20 inch rims as opposed to 3.73 with 18 inch rims both with same size tires except rim size, would there be a noticeable difference say on the tach or power wise?

wheel size has no affect on towing. It's the tire diameter. You could have 28 inch wheels or 13 inch wheels as long as the tire diameter is the same it doesn't change the gearing. Now the towing experience? Thats a whole nother thread. Haha

If you have the 6.7L diesel the 3.55 works great! I pull 19K thru the mountains with my 2012 F-250 6.7L 3.55 with locking differential!
