New 21' here, so will we get a dash notification when the truck goes into regen? I haven't seen anything yet but only have about 400 miles on the new truck. I am considering some type of monitor or gauges as we will be towing a 36' fifth wheel. The Banks I dash looks sufficient?
You maybe see the notification or may not as it flashes up briefly. Many people never notice the regen notice in the IPC as it only displayed a few seconds.
Like Larry mentions, I have a Banks iDash 1.8 to let me know when my truck goes active. Plus I have my DPF soot load percentage screen activated in the truck.
Interesting, how do you guys like the Banks? I would like to be able to monitor temps especially when towing.
I love my Banks because it's smaller but has many PID options. I bought a used Derringer tuner with a iDash Super Gauge, as mine is a Data Monster, that I will run as a second iDash once I install the tuner.
While smaller, it is hard for my 54 yo eyes to read, but that's why I have the letters/numbers set up in the yellow color and the background is blue. Kinda like using my night sights on my handguns with orange on the front sight. The colors help my aging eyes. I'm sure I'll have to use mine as the primary to run the tuner and then use the second one to monitor the PIDS (parameter IDs) that I do.
I just add the transmission temp gauge to the top row of the IPC and make the numeric temp amounts display via FORSCAN. That gives me coolant and transmission temps at a glance. I also turn on the DPF% display via FORSCAN, add that to the MyView screen, and just check it using the steering wheel buttons every so often (I usually keep the digital speedometer up as the default). With dashcam, trailer backup cam, and cell phone, I really don't want yet another screen in my field of view while driving though I would be tempted to use an app like OBDLink or TorqueShift plus a wireless OBDII module if I wanted to monitor other PIDs. One of those companies should really make an Android Auto or CarPlay app.
