November 2020 Chat Thread

November is here already, man this year really flown by. A little over 3 weeks till Thanksgiving.
Didn't work on the truck today, the wife wanted to work on the yard. She informed me it was time to re-mulch the flower beds too. I did put the truck onto the concrete pad so I can jack it up and pull the wheels. All the new steering linkage parts came in today so I will start with the front and work my way to the back. The entire passenger side of the truck is full of new parts, seat and floor board so I need to get to work. Still need to measure the old radiator and figure out which one I have and get a new one on order.

Fixed the fiances car. Pin hole in the radiator. She has COvid and is stuck at her parents. Dad is the only one with out.

He is not that mechanically inclined to go as far as I can on new cars. Yanked bumper, filled rad with water and pressurized system. GOTCHA BITCH

Replaced Rad, filled and ran. Came back out this morning to fix someone elses **** repair on the bumper (bumper was falling apart) and installed her HID in the fogs. Itll get a wash when she comes back over this weekend hopefully. Sucks we cant touch, but she can look at me from 15 feet.. **** this bull****.

ALso got my build thread caught up. Guys take a look, its hyperlinked on my signature now.

Thinking of ordering a new set of hard lines for the brake system. Worried about not being able to remove the 41 year old hard lines from rear wheel cylinders and I bent the master cylinder lines a little bit to move them out of the way when I put in the new steering gear box.

UPDATE:
I went ahead and ordered a new hard line kit this morning, Less than 200 bucks with shipping thru Bronco Graveyard. Since it looks like a total refurb I might as well go ahead and do it right the first time. I hope it gets delivered before the weekend.

The new coil arrived today for the GMC and I got it installed before I lost all daylight. That SUV is becoming a real pain in the butt. The only good thing is it's paid off. I hate it being almost dark when I get home.
Found the old Dodge on Copart: https://www.copart.com/lot/51787230/...a-cartersville
Kinda sad to see it like that.

nice.

I got off around 4, went and picked up the custom harley tank, went shopping and made it home to catch some sun light. But home chores kept me from the garage. Chasing down a creature in my attic. Set traps tonight.

My garage is lit like the sun, depending on how I feel about the elections, I may go in the garage all night.

I'll just be glad to not get 50 election text every day.Going to be there when the polls open at 7AM because in 2016 I waited over 4 hour to vote after work.
I was at the polling site at 6:30, first in line and second to vote and still made it to work on time.
Nothing showing on them shipping the brake line kit yet, have a feeling it won't make it by Friday. I can still do a majority of the work without the lines.

That thread is looking great. You've had some good ideas. I think that 240 would be a good canidate for twin turbo running E85. Of course you could do the same with that windsor engine and make a beast motor.

Thumbs up Back from camping

I finally got back home late last night. I drove back an old logging road to get to where I used to hunt. The deer were really moving Monday morning. I saw 2 bucks and 2 does that morning. I harvested a nice sized 6 pointer. The truck wasn't that far away but my phone died early that morning so I couldn't call for help. I made 2 trips in to get that buck out. As the saying goes, you kill them, then they kill you. I'm still recovering. I will just go back and charge my phone if I get in a situation like that again. My hunting partner bailed on me early that morning.

I don't know how many scratches I put on my truck. Looks like most of them rub out with my finger. I'll have to wash it good to see what is what. I think most are light from overhanging brairs and weeds. I had to get to where the hunting is better. I can't walk it, so I might have to pay someone to buff it after hunting season. I've already seen a few scratches when I bought it plus chipped paint with the metal rusting. It's a truck that's getting used like a truck but the women folk will come down hard on me for scratching it up.

Over all I had a great weekend. That deer really whipped me. Adam's Law, "A body in motion does not stay in motion." I thought I fixed the front jack on my camper. It worked great for a little while until it all fell apart. I think I've figured out a better way to fix the jack. Truck did great in the mountains. I ran in 4 low on that logging trail as I was dodging over hanging brairs and such. A few dead logs Betty had to crawl across. I wish I checked to see how steep Leg burner hill was in degrees. She climbed it with no problem. I went till I saw a live maple tree laying across the road. Good parking spot there with good turn around room. More live trees blew down across the road further down.

Stayed up late to watch the returns so I'm tired already.
Looked at the motorhome and figured out why the hot water heater didn't work on the last trip. It seems the 12 volt charging solenoid is not switching back and forth between the house and coach batteries to keep them all charged. It's stuck on the engine batteries and the house batteries are not getting charged.

Was smacked in the face this morning by a huge surprise. Seems the corp bigwigs have been conspiring behind the general managers back to get rid of him. He is a great guy and has poured his heart out trying to make the business right. Our business has doubled over last year and we are on record pace this month too. Really hit me wrong that they would do that so I talked to my old boss at the CAT place and they are super interested in bringing me back as a lead man for my old section. I told them what I wanted and I submitted an application so we will see how it works out. If they could do that to him them they would no problem doing that to me, I kinda like job security and don't feel like I have that here.

Bronco Graveyard says the line kit was shipped 2 days ago but when I run the tracking number and it says it's invalid. So it may be on the way but I have no idea when it will show up.
My old boss is excited about me coming back, they are going to fast track my application. Not looking forward to the drive again but they offered me a lead man position with more pay, I would not have to work every other Saturday and they have paid holidays off.

My goals really are to keep the 351, its a strong block. The 240 was shot from the get go, reason I paid a little extra cash when I got the truck to get the motor.
I want to make it a fun streetable daily, that the fiance can drive. But I will have to install discs on the truck for her to drive it. And she will have to abide by my rules about the no phone policy when driving that or my other truck. They are both built, and I built them.. There will be no distractions in them behind the wheel
